Govardhan Hill, Mathura
Categories: Mountains, Sacred & Religious Sites, Nature & Parks, Tourist Spots
Walk across a mountain which is said to had been touched by Lord Krishna and is now resembling him at Govardhan Hill. Learn about how Krishna lifted the hill to save the people from the floods caused by Indra, the god of rain and lightning, thus proving his supremacy and establish a cult of reverence. Take a sacred walk around the hill to show your respect and devotion by circling the 21km (13 mi) track. The most devoted finish their trek along the charcoal road barefoot, but that is not an obligation. Taste the local cuisine at restaurants nearby and shop for souvenirs.
