Sultan Battery, Mangalore

(2.8/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
Enjoy views of scenic backwaters from Sultan Battery, the only material reminder of Tipu Sultan’s empire dismantled by the British. Built in 1784 on the headland of the old port to control the estuary of the Gurupura River, the fort features thick black stone walls overlooking the beach and the sea. Explore mounting places for canons and an underground storage area for gunpowder. Get a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea and take a stroll along the beach with few shacks and a boating house. • Nice place.. A good beach and a good shuttle boat service. Perfect spot for a family visit!
  • Nice place to see the river. Ferry ride is short but worth it because of the beach on the other side. Price is rs.5 per person
  • Serene and nice. Easy access to tannirbavi beach from the ferry.
  • Don't go for the name. This place is not look like I expected. This place situated in the back waters of Mangalore and this place as boat service and ticket cost per head is 5 rupees which is cheap.
