Pay your respect to the goddess Durga or just enjoy the serene ambience of sacredness at Kateel Shri Durgaparameshwari Temple. Watch the holy river of Nandini from the banks of the islet on which the temple lies. The story goes that a sage pleaded with the goddess Durga to help relieve the people from drought, who requested her daughter Nandini to assist the sage. As Nandini was unwilling to come to Earth, the sage cursed her to become a river. See the ancient architecture of the red temple. Participate in the festival of ‘Yakashagana’, a form of tribute to the goddess where devotees dance, sing, and act in mythological plays.
