Categories: Waterfalls, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.2/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web
Also known as the “Shiva’s sea” (Sivanasamudram), Barachukki and Gaganachukki Falls are created by the river dropping off a high rocky plateau. The river bypasses an island town, which divides it into the twin Gaganachukki falls, best seen from a watch tower. The graceful cascade of Bharachukki falls--a few kilometers down the stream to the south-west--is far more popular among visitors. Here you can rest on a bench near the shore, take a dip in the shallow water, or take a boat ride to the mouth of the waterfall. Note that due to the frequent fatal accidents the access to Bharachukki falls is sometimes restricted. By using our Mandya vacation route planner, you can arrange your visit to Barachukki and Gaganachukki Falls and other attractions in Mandya.
