  • The Mahishasuramardini mandapa is one of the most beautiful. The different reliefs carved in the rock are famous mythological scenes: the goddess Durga, her form of Mahishasuramardini, puts to death the terrible demon head of Buffalo Mahishasura (which gives its name to this cave), in an impressive scene of dynamism and realism. On the opposite side, in stark contrast, Vishnu Narayana, bed and fast asleep on the serpent of eternity Ananta, breathe peace deep malgré the presence of the two demons, Madhu and Kaithaba which are up a bad shot. But warriors are here!
