Head to Pratapgarh Fort to witness a historic site where a battle that led to the establishment of the Maratha Empire took place in the 17th century. Perched on a hill 1,053 m (3,454 ft) above sea level, the fort features two sections, the higher of which offers far-reaching views of rolling green hills, surrounding villages, and the western coastline of India. • It takes around 45 mins one way to reach this fort and the roads are a little tricky. It's part of a history. Can be avoided if you are not a history enthusiast.  more »

  • Amazing place to visit. It has great historical importance apart from that the views from the fort top are just amazing. Has great parking facilities. But today the fort has been commercialized as there are shops and stall right inside of the fort. I would recommend that this place is worth visiting so if you are planning on visiting please do.
  • Fort construction is just Amazing. You can drive your 4 wheeler till the fort & even can trek from bottom. We specially went for trekking and stay on fort for one night. Experience was very good. Weather is cold so carry winter clothes for night if you are staying on fort. There are some rooms also available to stay on rent basis. Fort is clean and neat. Fort gate closed daily at night and opened in the morning by the old rituals.
  • It's well maintained fort. But only problem is there has been a lot of commercial activity on the fort which has lead to some alterations. During my visit I saw various repair working going on to restore the broken walls. The views from the Fort are also quite spectacular. Best season to visit is in Rainy season.
  • Great fort. Its a great advanture also to visit there. Its a great example for study tour or also picnic. Here you can spend more than 7 to 8 hours easily. You can now have such place in well condition though its historical still. You must visit if you are in Mahabaleshwar. Here trips as well as family picnic can easily planned.
  • Beautiful fort with such a great history but it has been over commercialized. There are food stalls and merchandise stalls everywhere inside the fort. It doesn't really feel like a fort when you are inside. It feels like a market place. All the restaurants/stalls should not be allowed inside the fort. Otherwise it ruins the entire image of the fort.
