Adorning the old part of the city with its specific, Dravidian architectural style, Koodal Azhagar Temple is a famous religious site dedicated to the Vishnu deity. The temple is divided into three parts, on three floors, which house three Vishnu idols in different positions. So on each one you can see the sitting, standing, and sleeping Vishnu’s huge idols. Pay attention to the decorations and carvings on both the walls and doors, as well as the idols themselves, and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the site. • Another piece of excellent architecture in Madurai. Equally has a very devotional environment. This temple has three layers. The main sanidhan vishnu with his consorts is in the sitting position. The second level has Vishnu in the standing position and the top most level has him in the sleeping posture. The steps are slightly steep to climb up but worth the visit. You can go all the way into the sanidha at the top layer and the inner room has beautiful paintings in it!!
