Chelavara Falls, Madikeri
Categories: Waterfalls, Nature & Parks
Enjoy lush greenery and fabulous hidden treasure of Coorg at Chelavara Falls, a natural waterfall formed by a stream amidst green coffee plantation. Pouring from 46 m (150 ft), over a rock cascade resembling a tortoise, the falls are known as Emepaare in the local language which is a word for a tortoise in Kodava language. The water crashes into a large pool and you will get sprayed by the water. You can abseil down the falls and dip yourself in the pool but you should be careful during the rainy season. Chelavara Falls is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Kodagu (Coorg) Edition.

Nice and Excellent upright falls in and around area are pleasant to see overall its a great experience Chill & Cool over here.
Very nice place. Here bathing is allowed in this falls. One can reach at the top of the falls and it is little bit dangerous place. There is big ground covered by grass and surrounded by hills and small village at the top. Small car and bike is suitable to visit here. Road condition is not so good and it is under development. The entire place is surrounded by dense Forrest. Be careful as leeches are every where.
Roads are little bit tricky but worth the travel to visit the falls. Need to hike abt 300m downstream to have a good view
One of the Excellent place near by madikeri,Actually we have 2 falls in same location - other is 500 metres from the same main falls. Nice place to visit, its better than abbey falls..very tall than abbey.
It's a beautiful waterfall. Calm and quiet place. Goo for photography. Pros - One can easily get into the waters. It falls right from coffee plantations - thats something unique about this falls. Cons - No good road access. There is a dust road which goes till waterfall but it could be risky to drive small cars on it. If you want to explore Coorg and see something different than usual crowd, definitely go for it. Take the help of locals to find the roads.
Wonderful sight of the waterfalls. However not recommended for people who would like to shower/swim in the falls as there are a lot of people who have slipped to death. But the way to the falls is quite a bit of adventure for adventure lovers.
