Abbi Falls, Madikeri
(3.3/5 based on 1,800+ reviews on the web)
Take a drive or hike up to Abbi Falls, a scenic cascade on the Kaveri River. Enjoy a stroll through verdant plantations filled with black pepper vines, coffee shrubs, and lush green trees to reach the waterfall, best admired from a hanging bridge constructed across the cascade. Flowing thunderously during the monsoon season, the falls can seem comparatively underwhelming in dry weather. You can't swim at the base of the falls. Put Abbi Falls and other Kodagu (Coorg) attractions into our Kodagu (Coorg) tourist route planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • The good thing is, unlike many others, the approach to this one does not require one to climb several stairs on the way back. Though the falls are not the highest, they make for a beautiful sight. :)

  • I had been to this place may be 3 to 4 times. 5 6 years back when i had been there we could go beneath the falls to the water. last year when i was there they had a bridge and they were allowing to go on that bridge and take photos. Now even that is not allowed!!! Without that space, there is not much space remaining to have a good look at the falls. And people to that place is increasing day by day, so its really difficult to enjoy the moment.
  • Abbey Falls (Abbi Falls and Abbe Falls) is located 8 km from the Madikeri. The river is part of the early reaches of the river Kaveri. Flow is much higher during the monsoon season. The falls was earlier called Jessi falls named after a British officer's wife. From Madikeri the waterfall is accessible by a well laid road till the coffee estate gate. Thereon, a small trek through the coffee and spices plantations leads to the waterfalls.
  • A must visit if there has been a rain fall previous day or its a rainy season. If u want to decide between Iruppi and this. Go for this one. But if u want to take bath, then go for iruppi
  • The falls are really nice. Deep inside forest. The way to the falls is also scenic. No one is allowed to step inside falls. Go in Monsoon season to enjoy full glory of the falls.
  • Abbi falls scenery good. Parking places not clean. Toilet are dirty. No water in toilets
