Dr. Ambedkar Park, Lucknow

#1 of 11 in Parks in Lucknow
#Nature / Park, #Must See
Pay tribute to one of India's strident social reformers at Dr. Ambedkar Park. A solemn row of 62 elephants leads to the park's main focus, a memorial to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, leader of a Buddhist movement and tireless campaigner against social discrimination, especially towards the Untouchable class. Opposite to the memorial, a small museum displays statues of other important figures. Visit the 24 m (80 ft) pyramidal monument for sweeping views over the expansive red sandstone memorial. Bring plenty of water and sunblock when exploring the area, and consider coming back at night to see the sculptures vibrantly illuminated. A visit to Dr. Ambedkar Park represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Lucknow road trip planning site to plot your vacation.

  • Great monument to visit! It tells the story of those heroes who helped establish Liberty, Fraternity, Equality and Justice in our society. We get to know the names and history of those forgotten by history, while also getting enchanted by the beautiful stonework and huge landscape. Must visit, especially two hours before sunset to catch the sun reflecting on the pillars towards the end.
  • You can enjoy n spend your evening here with your friends. 3 year ago when I visited there with my male friend, some cops were investigating about us just to scare us. So no worries I think now everything would be nice now. You can take a walk with your loved ones here. And near this park you can explore marine drive n should taste momos, paw bhaji and other stuff.
  • Huge Park of about hundred acres... With lot of walkways and seating areas. Located on the Gomti riverfront. Because of time constraint I had to visit in the day time, After 6 p.m to 9 P.M is the best time With all the lights on spending an hour or two. If you like interesting architecture and aesthetics plus some interesting things to learn about the reason for the park commemorating key figures in the recent struggle to abolish the caste system. It needs more maintenance to attract tourists.
  • I have not seen a public park bigger and cleaner than Ambedkar Park in New Lucknow - it is not only a huge park with beautiful landscaping, designs and architectural marvels, but is also maintained extremely well. The various statues and sculptures here are great and reasonably well maintained, unlike many of the other statues in other places in our country. It is also a great place for walking and catching fresh air. However, too many statues of a political leader here depicts drainage of national exchequer.
  • Beautiful stone work, sprawling lawn, statue everywhere. Must visit for photographers at different hours of the day. Even low light photography gives amazing catch. Here one can understand the reason that why 'Butt (Idol/बुत)' word originated from 'Buddh (बुद्ध)'. Contradiction is a integral part of our society as 'Buddha' (बुद्ध) was all against the 'Butt (Idol/बुत)' worshiping.
