Dr. Ambedkar Park, Lucknow

3.8
#1 of 10 in Parks in Lucknow
Nature / Park Must See
Pay tribute to one of India's strident social reformers at Dr. Ambedkar Park. A solemn row of 62 elephants leads to the park's main focus, a memorial to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, leader of a Buddhist movement and tireless campaigner against social discrimination, especially towards the Untouchable class. Opposite to the memorial, a small museum displays statues of other important figures. Visit the 24 m (80 ft) pyramidal monument for sweeping views over the expansive red sandstone memorial. Bring plenty of water and sunblock when exploring the area, and consider coming back at night to see the sculptures vibrantly illuminated. A visit to Dr. Ambedkar Park represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Lucknow road trip planning site to plot your vacation.

  • Huge Park of about hundred acres... With lot of walkways and seating areas. Located on the Gomti riverfront. Because of time constraint I had to visit in the day time, After 6 p.m to 9 P.M is the best time With all the lights on spending an hour or two. If you like interesting architecture and aesthetics plus some interesting things to learn about the reason for the park commemorating key figures in the recent struggle to abolish the caste system. It needs more maintenance to attract tourists.
  • A huge and extensive memorial park. It's beauty do not needs any word but let me try to give you a picture here. This place has a systematic parking area, washrooms, drinking water and security. The entrance of this memorial place gives you an amazing view with stoned pathways, paved sidewalks, pillars with elephants on them, shining dooms. After walking a few steps with your friends and family you will see a row of elephants welcoming you that will amaze you for sure. A good example of architecture world which will attracts you. Lastly, I would like to say that wasting a huge public amount for such things should be controlled by the government. This is the reason I rate is as 4 star.
  • I'll give it A 5* ratings. The reason for this I need not tell its always visible once u visit the park. Though some people say its a waste of money and many more but truly speaking this is the best existing parks of Lucknow and its the real gem of the city. Parking lot structure is very systematic. Its the perfect place to visit in evening after the sunsets along with the riverfront.
  • One of the best place I have visited..Big big and so big sculptures so well managed. Good to spend time. No food allowed inside...Must bring water bottle as its very big. Ticket costs 30/-
  • The beauty of this place can't be described in word when low sunlight focuses on stones. Really it's amazing and wonderful place in Lucknow. Build with stones and it's become hot in summer but it's more comfortable in winter. Ticket fare to entry is now increased Rs 10 to Rs 15
