Dr. Ambedkar Park, Lucknow

#1 of 10 in Parks in Lucknow
Nature / Park Must See
Pay tribute to one of India's strident social reformers at Dr. Ambedkar Park. A solemn row of 62 elephants leads to the park's main focus, a memorial to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, leader of a Buddhist movement and tireless campaigner against social discrimination, especially towards the Untouchable class. Opposite to the memorial, a small museum displays statues of other important figures. Visit the 24 m (80 ft) pyramidal monument for sweeping views over the expansive red sandstone memorial. Bring plenty of water and sunblock when exploring the area, and consider coming back at night to see the sculptures vibrantly illuminated. A visit to Dr. Ambedkar Park represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Lucknow road trip planning site to plot your vacation.

Does not go with the general ambience and style of the city. This city is fast losing its charismatic beauty. The overhead metro will be the death knell.  more »

This park is the great work of architecture. I would say this is one of the trademark of Lucknow. Vrey beautifully built and and covers a huge area. Tickets are also very affordable at ₹10 (june/2017) for each entry. If you are going to Lucknow and wondering from where to start, I would recommend you to must visit Ambedkar Park.

It is a beautiful park in Lucknow, but only rock and rock monuments. Very hot during summer days. No play area for kids, no cafeteria. Several statues of elephants, Mayawati and Ambedkar. Good for winter visit.

Can't say that's a park! No greenery, no swings, no benches, no water, no food, no shade, no jogging tracks. Just marbled floor that too uneven/plain...3 steps up then 3 steps down all the way so one can't even skate or walk without worry...not suitable for any sports as well. Entry ticket 10/- per person. No card or wallets are accepted...only cash. It's hot in summertime and too cold in winters because of marbles and architectural design. Just open space and lamps in the evening. Doesn't serve any purpose.

Only rock sculptures and some bonsai trees. Still, well maintained and awesome park. Very hot during summer, no shades or shelters available

Although well constructed.. waste of money though..no trees.. dont you dare to visit during peak summer time. could have built something that would be useful to public
