  • A must see for any one interested in history and culture. It gives an idea of how life was in the house 200 years back. The audio guide inside the museum isn't great. However, the sight of what's insi...  more »

  • Lovely mansion of a rich Portuguese Goan lawyer. Well kept with guided tour. Ticketed.
  • Do yourself a favour and choose another activity or another colonial mansion to visit as this one here won't add absolutely anything to your cultural knowledge. The whole place is run down, dusty moldy. The artefacts on display are of very little interest. I am reading a lot of rave rewievs about this place and it might depend on what you have seen and visited before, what you compare this house-museaum to! If you have visited at least one castle or mansion in Europe or even in some Caribbean islands, you will see what I am talking about!
  • Visited this place in jul 17 . it an old house of a lawyer around 17 century which is turned into a museum. Various articles of a that time was preserved and introduced to visitors through sound commentary. Worth a visit while in goa.
  • Wow! We didn't expect much out of this place, but we thoroughly enjoyed every second of the visit... It's a very well maintained house built in 18th century, preserving all the artifacts of yester-centuries, generation by generation... Some of the collections were amusing to watch, and the staff were very cordial... The ticket-price may seem steep at 100 Rs, but it was worth the price... You have to buy a camera pass for clicking pics... However, the audio guide has a fast pace and moves very quickly from room to room, and more time to enjoy the intricacies of the artifacts would have made our visit even more memorable...
  • Not recommended for local nationalities as many are familiar objects used..

Where to stay in Goa

One of the more affordable regions for staying in India, Goa offers a good range of sleeping options, from budget to luxurious. Visitors looking for that feeling of home away from home can explore rental apartments, which offer more space than a hotel room and often come with fully equipped kitchens. Look for an apartment in Oxel or Siolim, peaceful villages with gated communities and a range of facilities. Beach houses and private villas offer an alternative for those with deeper pockets, while beach huts/shacks work well for budget-conscious travelers.
