Magnetic Hill, Leh
(3/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
Turn off your engine and put your vehicle in neutral to see a natural optical illusion at Magnetic Hill. Some call the phenomenon a "gravity hill," because objects moving downhill appear to be going uphill, thus defying a natural law. Though local myths have suggested a magnetism stronger than gravity lies in the hills here, the fun effect is actually a trick of the mind, with surrounding hills obstructing the horizon and confusing the way the eye perceives the lay of the land. Bring your video camera. A visit to Magnetic Hill represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Leh vacation planner to plot your vacation.

  • Place is having beautiful road with awesome mountain views alll around where you can have good clicks of yourself. But we didn't found any magnetic effect over there.
  • The place proves science wrong. There is a marking on the road, in which we parked our vehicle and the vehicle started to roll against gravity. Strange, but true. A great phenomenon to witness first h...  more »
  • This place is around 35 km from main leh town. It is not exactly a particular hill, the total area is called magnetic hill zone. It is only hype. We have not noticed any magnetic effect.

  • Popular for the magnetic effect illusion. But keep that factor aside... This is one of the many stunning views that the naked mountains of ladakh offer.
  • One of the best tourist spots. If you're travelling to Leh from Srinagar by Car or Bike, you must surely take a stop at this place. Also try the magnetic phenomena by switching off your vehicle's engine.
  • Place is awesome but there is no so-called magnetic effect, It's only illusion If you observe you will see there is slope, that's why the vehicle move automatically.
  • A unique hill which has so called "magnetic hill", it is beautiful place and unpolluted
  • This is literally nowhere... But the scenic beauty and the road for drive through is worth coming to this place. The vehicle did move 😀 on its own ✌...you just have to follow the instructions on the board!
