Likir Gompa, Leh

(4.4/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Travel the scenic mountain road to Likir Gompa, nestled at a high altitude with memorable views of the surrounding lofty landscape. One of the oldest monasteries in the region, the original structure supposedly dated back almost 1,000 years, when it was constructed by King Lhachen Gyalpo. Since then, it has undergone destruction and reconstruction. Observe the gigantic golden statue of the Buddha, visible from far away as you approach, and once at the monastery, venture on to the roof for outstanding views across the hills. A visit to Likir Gompa represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Leh vacation planner to plot your vacation.

  • A Tibetan-style Temple on Temple is a lot of stairs. Tired of removing the story is for people who don't usually exercise, plus the pressure of Leh. Should walk up and stop intermittently, but the temple is the most extreme views แลั. Inside the temple there is a resemblance of the LDS Thailand.

  • Beside one gaint statue its real sureal place like every other monastery of region
  • This monastery doesn't really have anything that sticks out when you compare it with others in the area. I'm glad I went!
  • Amazing place to visit. U will get deep breath after visiting the Gompa statue.
  • The winds blowing here and the mountains surrounding you is one the best experiences you will get.
  • If you are interested in Ladakh culture this place has to be in your travel itinerary.
