  • Nearly half an hours drice from Kozhikode city will take you to kadalundi bird sanctuary. A railway station is also there in Kadalundi and the sanctuary starts from near the railway station. The sanctuary is a mangrove habitat and is a recluse for migratory birds from around the world. The birds flock to kadalundi after the monsoons. But Kadalundi is more beautiful during the monsoons like any other place in Kerala. It was in the month of December last year. After our visit to the Beypore port we thought it would be worthwhile to visit Kadalundy Bird sanctuary which is located not very far from there, but the experience was a damp squib. No directions were available to the sanctuary anywhere on the roads. After enquiring from the locals, somehow we reached there and hired a small boat to take us round through the river. Though the sanctuary claimed to be the abode for more than a hundred species of native birds and over 60 species of migratory birds like sea gulls, terns, sandpipers, sand plovers, red and green shanks, turn stones, that flock here in large numbers from November to April, we could sight only sea gulls.
  • Nice place. On season time we can see various types of birds here. The view from railway bridge is awsome
  • Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary is the bird watchers paradise as it provides shelter to more than 60 and 100 varieties of migratory and native birds. Every year, the sanctuary attracts a large number of tourists for witnessing rare species of avifauna. Some of the migratory birds to be spotted in this exotic bird sanctuary include seagulls, green shanks, sand plovers, terns, sandpipers and turn stones. The best time to visit this bird sanctuary is during the months of October to March. The other highlights to visit in this wildlife reserve are the wide variety of mussels, crabs and fishes around the water bodies. Situated at a distance of 19 km from Kozhikode, Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary can be easily reached by the state owned buses plying on regular intervals.
  • This is a bird sanctuary spread over a group of islands in an area dotted with hillocks in the estuary of the Kadalundi River, which joins the Arabian Sea here. This untouched littoral region is home to nearly 60 species of birds, of which many are winter visitors, who come here to nest and breed. The islands and birds can be watched from a 200 m high hillock nearby.
  • Best migrating birds visit here...it was the best to watch.. By air: Calicut International Airport, about 23 km from Kozhikode, is the nearest airport.
