Learn about the history and mythology behind Sri Mookambika Temple, a Hindu shrine dedicated to the goddess of fertility and love. As the stories go, a demon once harassed various deities at this temple until the goddess Mookambika killed him and restored peace. When you visit, look for a golden sword gifted to the temple by a popular Indian actor. To avoid crowds and join in prayers, visit early in the morning. Remember to dress appropriately--women may want to carry a shawl to wear inside the temple. Sri Mookambika Temple is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Kollur Edition.

  • A different experience compared to other temples visited before. Slight rain restricted our walk around. Nice atmosphere. It was not difficult to find accommodation. Vidyarambam offered every day. A lot of children attending the function. Food is available in the temple and thousands are fed every day which is a great gesture.

  • This is one of the Devine place, which is nearest to my heart, and also near to my home. I visit here whenever I feel to see the Goddess Mookambika. which gives me peace of mind and gets away all the mental stress anything I have, visiting this temple is like undergoing a meditation. Cool and calm place, if you want to avoid longer que, visit early morning other than the special occasions/festival days.
