Lighthouse Tourist Spot
Climb the stairs and enjoy the panorama from Thangassery Light House, the tallest lighthouse on the coast of Kerala. Built in 1902, this 43 m (144 ft) tall cylindrical tower features red and white diagonal stripes, making it a landmark of the area. Look back down at the interesting pattern created by the spiral staircase inside the tower, then see the sun set and the moon rise simultaneously. With its red oblique bands, the structure resembles a giant candy cane from afar. • Very nice Lighthouse and views from the top. Elevator helps a lot, but we still need to climb steep steps. Old people cannot climb the almost 10-floor tall Lighthouse. It looks small from far but is really huge.
  • Breathtaking view from the top of lighthouse. The lighthouse is well maintained and the old equipments used in the lighthouse are still visible.
  • Newly added lift service is very helpful for the elders. Excellent view of kollam and beach..a superb experience ...dont miss it.
  • One nice place to view the shoreline & city. Visit cost INR 20 per person & an additional INR 10 to take photos. The view from the top is breathtaking. Worth the visit, & don't worry there is a lift that takes you to the viewing deck. Although you need to climb few stairs to reach the absolute top of this light house.
  • Great view. Opens at 10 am. Closed on monday
