  • Nice place. Very quiet. This place has magic in it
  • This is a hidden gem of Calcutta. The church is built on a cemetery and so, you can find some interesting people in there. The most famous of them all--Job Charnock, once considered to be the founder of Calcutta. Then, Lady Canning, one of the most prolific women artist in British India and the wife of Lord Canning. Legend has it that the famous bengali sweet 'ledikeni' was named after her. The burial ground also has the infamous Black hole Memorial of Calcutta. Black hole was a small room in Fort William in Calcutta, where Nawab Siraj-ud-daulah 's army held British prisoners of war. They were eventually killed. The burial ground also has the 2nd Rohila war Memorial. The interiors of the church is beautiful and needs a little touch up. Inside, the most interesting piece is a painting of the 'The Last Supper' by Johann Zoffany. It is not an exact replica of Da Vinci's masterpiece but close with an Indian touch. The models of the painting were eminent personalities from Calcutta during Zoffany's time. The most interesting plaque on the walls is on James Achilles Kirkpatrick, the central character of William Darlymple's best-selling book, "The White Mughals".
