Prinsep Ghat, Kolkata (Calcutta)
Categories: Nature & Parks
Take a leisurely stroll along the river or sit and admire the views at one of Kolkata’s oldest recreational spots, Prinsep Ghat. The ghat, meaning "stairs leading down to a body of water," was built in 1841 during the British Raj. Look out for the beautifully designed monument to Prinsep, designed with Greek and gothic in-lays. The spot becomes popular in the evenings and at weekends, when families and couples head down to go boating along the river or enjoy some food from one of the many stalls. In 2012, a 2 km (1.2 mi) stretch of the riverbank was given a facelift and now boasts landscaped and illuminated gardens, water fountains, and footpaths. Stroll along the paths while enjoying an ice cream from one of the local vendors. Put Prinsep Ghat at the forefront of your travel plans using our Kolkata (Calcutta) vacation generator.

This is another regular building erected during the empire era to glorify personalities of that time: british. Stuff like this are everywhere in Calcutta. At the end it could be boring.
You can spend your time well watching the beauty of Vidyasagar Setu in the evening and if you are lucky you can get a boat rate about 200-250 per hour.
