Mother's Wax Museum, Kolkata (Calcutta)

Tour larger than life figures at Mother's Wax Museum, India’s first wax museum located in an unconventionally shaped modern building in New Town. Mingle with wax images of Indian national heroes and celebrities and get a close up view of Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Mother Theresa, Diego Maragona and Spiderman. Dressed in their original attire, these well-done statues provide a great photo opportunity but you can actually do this with the idols in their respective setting like read a book with Tagore or sit on a presidential chair. A well-lit futuristic blue glass wall in the lobby has a collection of famous sayings for which these grandees are known for. The museum has two bonsai gardens with cafeterias on each side. • Ideal place for kids and families. There are wax statues for celebrities in major fields of art, science, sports, entertainment and fictional characters. Best is that you have them under one-roof which makes your visit worthwhile. A time spent with elderly family members is memorable for them as they tend to develop a sense of nostalgia.
  • I would give it 4.5 if google allowed me to. Really well maintained. The wax models pretty much resemble real life figures they depict. The only thing that stops from revisiting is the high entry fee of 250 rupee per head as of Dec 2017.
  • Decent place to take your kids. Has good collection of wax mannequins. You are allowed to take pics with them. There are couple of photo spots. Entry fee ₹250/person. Little expensive compared to the collection they have. Above the museum they have a bonsai garden but it is not well maintained.
  • VERY POSITIVE ATMOSPHERE. YOU CAN TAKE MANY PHOTOS AND SELFIES. FOOD SERVED IS ALSO GOOD. ENTRY FEE PER PERSON ABOVE THREE YEAR IS Rs 250.
  • Good place to have fun. It would take Almost 2 hours. Better to go in the first half.
