India's biggest and oldest zoo, Kolkata Zoo & Zoological Garden tells a comprehensive story about the diverse wildlife living in this part of the world. Established in 1875 and spanning a total of 18 hectares (45 acres), the zoo shelters the nearly extinct Aldabra giant tortoises, elephants, rhinos, Bengal tigers, white tigers, African lions, giraffes, deer, and zebras in large enclosures. One of the prime tourist spots in the city, this well-maintained attraction is visited by 3 million people every year.
