  • This beautiful old neo-classical building contains a collection of exceptional quality. Not to be missed! Geology rooms have a charm that is hard to find elsewhere.

  • It is the most knowledge place in kolkata. It has history from ansient period. It is good place for teens and kids.
  • Hasn't changed much since Victorian times, particularly the shop. Signs on exhibits very generally helpful. Very impress high ceiling building. Something to do if time to kill, or really interested in...  more »

  • Very bad maintains, there are dusts over the sculptures and no ac at all. Many spitting spots over the stairs. Omg! U can't imagine that India's largest and oldest library has spitting spots in it's stairs. Really bad maintains. But the collections are really good. Many rare items are there. You can see old gold coins, Egyptian mommy and many more. Take a visit obviously. The visiting is only Rs. 20/- for Indians and 500/- for foreigners.
  • The Indian Museum is no longer the place it was about 10 years ago. 10 minutes into mine adventure, I was pretty sure to leave. The atmosphere inside was nauseating due to the lack of air conditioners and also with the absence of air vents. There's nothing much to see in here and all to the stuff thats here is seriously not worth your time. To be honest, Indian Museum isn't a place I would recommend you to visit, the Park Street as well New Market area is more interesting than this place.
  • The Indian Museum is the largest and oldest museum in India and has rare collections of antiques, armour and ornaments, fossils, skeletons, mummies, and Mughal paintings. It was founded by the Asiatic Society of Bengal in Kolkata, India, in 1814. Wikipedia Address: 27, Jawaharlal Nehru Rd, Colootola, New Market Area, Dharmatala, Taltala, Kolkata, West Bengal ,700016.
  • Personally, I really like this place. A lots of things are there like mummy, fossils, different types of rocks ( for those who love geology), different types of handcrafts and a lot more. This is really a good place for spending a lot of time, specially at weekends.
  • one of the oldest museum in asia. tremendous collection. bt staffs should be more helpful. must visit for kolkata tour.
