  • It is the best museum of India. As per my knowledge it is the largest and oldest museum of India. It was the best place to know about the past things as it has rare collection of antiques, fossils, skeleton and various types of paintings. It also contains scientific artifacts. The decoration and the design of the museum was brilliant . This museum was created by sir William Jones in 1784. When I entered this museum I completely felt myself as in the age of stone. This is a wonderful museum. The collection of antiques of this museum was really superb. It contains Egyptian human mummy about 4, 000 yrs old, which is very scaring. People said that its heart is still inside while all other organs were taken out.Te museum is also considered as the “beginning of the modernity and the end of medival era”.Really it was very wonderful journey to the museum.
  • Indian Museum is the oldest and one of the largest heritage museum of India. This is a place which takes us back to witness the glorious past of mankind. There are several sections dedicated to various fields of ancient history, economics, geography and biology. Remarkable Buddhist period sculptures escavated from various parts of India are major attraction. In the other sections you will find rare collections of coins, antics, skeletons, paintings. There is a room fully dedicated to ancient Egyptian culture and you will find a real mummy there. Also a library is present within the museum premises. The entry fee is ₹20 for the Indians. Photography is not prohibited. A place is allotted to keep all your luggage just beside the entry gate (it's free). A good canteen and washroom is available. But it is advised to travel by hired car or app cabs or any other public transport and not to bring personal car as no parking is allotted.
  • This museum is a very good place. Nice, informative place. All kinds of study is depicted including palaeontology, zoology, botany, evolution, archaeology, history, etc. The place is old but is well maintained. A visit once is required , specially for children . A place to acquire knowledge and have fun acquiring it. It is centrally located. No problem visiting this place, one can use a taxi, bus or even metro. There's nice security too, photography is prohibited in a few section but it's over.
  • First of all, the whole building is a beautiful piece of art. It would be a shame if you don't stand back and just watch the beauty of this beautiful architectural building. Then when you walk in you're welcomed by two stone sculptures of lions. The museum is really wonderful and offers way too many things to describe. So it is better to visit this outstanding place yourself.
  • Nice collections of antique pieces can be found here. The most mark-able object is the Museum Building. It was standing in the City of Joy since British Era. Architecture of the building is awesome. The entry fess is very nominal (it is in 2 digits). Mobile Photography is free. There are different entry fess for Indians and Foreigners( it is in 3 digits). Bags/ Backpacks are not allowed inside the Museum. There is separate place to keep your Bags/Backpacks. Drinking water n food facilities are available inside the Museum. The museum is closed on Monday. Nearest Metro station is "Park Street". Just get out from Metro Gate, you will be in front of Museum. "New Market", "Esplanade" and "Dharmatala" are nearest Landmarks. You can fulfill your shopping appetite in these markets.
