Siddhagiri Museum, Kolhapur

(4.7/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
At Siddhagiri Museum, imagine how life was like in a self-sufficient dream village of Mahatma Gandhi, before the Mughals’ invasion in Maharasht. Walk through nearly 80 vivid historic scenes, recreated with 300 cement dolls depicting healthy and joyful interpersonal relationships among villagers--craftspeople at work and families at home. Enter the house of a village priest, a goldsmith’s workshop, and a barber shop. See images of farmers plowing, grandmas stitching, and villagers performing devotional songs. The museum was built with the help from Siddhagiri Gurukul Foundation Trust on a serene hilly terrain overgrown with lush vegetation. It also houses an ancient temple with a 13 m (42 ft) tall Shiva idol. Put Siddhagiri Museum into our Kolhapur family vacation planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Coolest and artistic museum I have ever been. It takes you through every lifestyle of village location. It takes around 2-3 hours to visit the complete museum. Photography is strictly prohibited there. 100 ₹ is entry fees.
  • Some incredible work inside. Watch it for yourself. Not gonna reveal anything. You got to be here if you're in Kolhapur. 😉
  • Very good way of presenting cultural aspect. Makes easy to explain it to children. Something interesting for every age group. Keep 3 hr for visit.
  • Very good presentation of traditional Indian culture from vedic days to modern days ,village life etc No photographs banned here thanks for museum staff ,my request is not to touch any statue and do not go beyond any fences for selfi or pics.. Time required :- Min 4 hour's Basically 4 palaces to visit in this place 1) siddgiri museum. 120/- 60/- for kidds 2) Prerana park. 50/- 30/- 3) Booth Bangla. 40/- 4)7D theater. 80/- 5) Maya bazar 20/- Out of theses places First visit Maya bazar ..its dedicated to kids and good place for then to enjoy with parents different types of mirrors and bhul bhulaya is here. Second visit Prerana park .its park dedicated to freedom fighter, very nice life size statues of netaji s Bose,Gandhiji's dandi March ,Rabindranath tagore, and lot of other freedom fighters even we didn't knew. Visit to booth bangla ...its not for senior citizens even not babies, Its horrifying room by its sound. Very good sensors attached in entrance of every room, Enjoyd it..;-) Siddagiri museum ...its very good effort by Trust who made it possible ..its such a huge park u need to have lot of patience and interest to walk through these places more interesting thing in this park is its still adopting new culture setup undergoing, Its not possible for old age parents who have problem of knees or so , Its very nice presentation of all vedic guru's in around 300 mtrs in the form of cave...very informative information about valmiki, vedavyasa, shusruta, yashodha, alchemist,Surgon etc. The best thing in this cave they have CC cams and emergency exists.
