Bear Shola Falls, Kodaikanal

(150+ reviews on the web)
Dip into the pool underneath Bear Shola Falls, a seasonal waterfall in a reserve forest that soars during the monsoon season. Gushing from a 12 m (40 ft) tall cliff, the water crashes into a small pool underneath, passing over smooth boulders as it runs. Named after the bears who come to drink water from the top of the falls, the site stands 10 minutes by foot from the nearest car park along a gently climbing trail. You can buy tea, water, and snacks at the entrance to the trek, but only during the monsoon season, as the falls reach their peak power in September and October.
