Chinese Fishing Nets, Kochi (Cochin)

(2,600+ reviews on the web)
Landmark
When in Kochi, make a short stop at Fort Kochi to admire Chinese Fishing Nets, representing an authentic fishing method and a landmark of the city. Although their name suggests Chinese heritage, the nets probably originate from Portuguese settlers who had colonies in Southern China. The unusual nets are fixed on bamboo or teak pillars and are lowered into the sea. Take a walk along the beach to admire the famous Kochi vista of the large, hammock-like nets appearing to float in mid-air, or purchase some of the fresh seafood being pulled out of the sea. Chinese Fishing Nets is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Kochi (Cochin) Edition.

  • Great place must visit in your life. I was trying to reach Fort Kochi before dawn to capture the sunset but due to Traffic conditions it was Delayed. No Regrets though I got to see an awesome view of Sky due to the lights shattered due to sunset. After some time enjoying and chilling at the Beach my Eyes 👀 were mesmerized too see the Full 🌙 Moon rising is a slow pace. Fresh sea food is available to be cooked at a very moderate price. It was a marvellous Experience.
  • Not so good as it is shown in tourism pictures. Good part - you can see dolphins here, don't miss that. It is near fort Kochi. Cleanliness -2/5 And there will be too much smell of fish. People sell fish at the same place. If you are vegetarian then you might not like.
  • Nice place to sit and chill. We can see chinese fishing nets in action. Very popular place for tourists in Kochi.
  • A nice place to enjoy. To take a morning walk out there is awesome
  • Traditional way of catching fishes very effective refreshing past memories. Fresh variety fishes were available at cheaper rate.
