  • It's one of the temple of western group of temples in Khajuraho. Good place to visit to see the fine ancient architecture of India.
  • Well maintained. Must visit world Heritage.
  • Before I visited this world famous Heritage Temple group in Khajuraho , I had all kind of apprehensions in my mind but the moment I stood in front of this marvellous piece of architectural depicting the worldly ways so explicitly and vividly beautifully I experienced the way that leads to spirituality. Never for a second I had worldly thoughts cross my mind when I stood gazing at the beautiful piece of art that was so minutely carved pouring the heart of the artist. My mind wandered to the artist who would have been a great devotee. All the temples are well maintained though they are a little destroyed by natural weathering. It was an experience of a lifetime! Bought quite a few sarees to gift. They said it was made of bamboo though I am not very sure of that. There was a huge scope of bargaining. Do not forget to visit the Raneh Waterfall which will bring you back to the human world. A two Day trip from Delhi is a great weekend breakaway from the hustle and bustle of the cosmopolitan life that we live here. The Uttar Pradesh Sampark Kranti Express train which boarded at 8.10 PM from Nizamuddin Railway station after office landed us in Khajuraho at 6.35 AM. It was quite a comfortable overnight journey. The same train brought us back to delhi on Monday so that we joined office post lunch. This two day trip to Khajuraho Group of Temples along with a visit to the Raneh Fall the next day left its imprint on our minds forever as this was such a transporting journey from the earthly world to the Spiritual and back. An absolute must for everyone!

The most impressive of the temples is the Kandariya Mahadev, which represents the pinnacle of North Indian temple art and architecture. It's remarkable for its grand dimension, its complex yet perfectly harmonious composition, and its exquisite sculpture embellishment. More than 800 sculptures cover the temple, depicting gods and goddess, beasts and warriors, sensuous maidens, musicians, dancers and, of course, the erotic scenes for which the Khajuraho temples are famous.
