4.7/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web
Take a houseboat ride on Vembanad Lake, the largest in Kerala. The lake forms part of a unique ecosystem called the "Kerala backwaters," where freshwater streams meet the salty Arabian sea, creating a labyrinth of brackish lakes, lagoons, rivers, and inlets that span over 900 km (560 mi). Take a guided boat trip and glide across the lagoon, spotting fields and meadows, rows of coconut palms and mangrove trees, and numerous species of birds. Enjoy the picturesque setting, have a picnic by the lakeshore, or try fishing in the plentiful waters. Put Vembanad Lake at the forefront of your travel plans using our Kumarakom itinerary planner.
