Admire Kerala's largest fortress, Bekal Fort. Built in the 17th century and situated near Kasarogod, the stronghold overlooks the Arabian Sea. Take a relaxing walk along the well-maintained fort walls and through the lush green gardens--which have served as the filming location of numerous Indian movies, music videos, and commercials. Gaze upon the vast sea from one of the imposing observation towers, or descend below the stone walls to the small, picturesque beach and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Bekal fort is one of the famous historical spot in Kerala. There are some portion of the port which had distortion in it's original condition. It is being renovated to retain it's original condition. Very reasonable entrance fee. You have to pay additional for using professional cameras inside the fort. Ample parking space is available there. Better to visit in the evening time as you can have nice view of sunset. The fort is well maintained and everybody is responsible to maintain it during their visit.

A beautiful fort. Well maintained and there are certain spots which are absolutely photo worthy. Go there early as they close the place by 6pm. You will need more than an hour to check out each spot satisfactorily. Though I have not visited this place during the rainy seasons, it is supposed to be greener and look very beautiful during the monsoons. You can get there by bus from the Kasaragod bus stand but make sure you leave early. The bus is crowded around 4pm so you'll reach the fort late.

Bekal fort is one of the loveliest tourist spots in India. Hearing the name'' Bekal fort'' please do not expect any kind of architectural excellence in the construction to enjoy. It is the nature of the surroundings where the fort is positioned made this 15th century fort a center of attraction to millions of nature lovers. It is really a tremendous experience to be here where gentle breeze continuously makes you cool irrespective of the weather or seasons, where the wavelets of Arabian sea transform themselves to little maids and trying to garland the golden shore with enormous silver designs, failing to find out a perfect match, repeating process infinitely without satisfaction. If you want feel the heaven on the earth, do come here on a full moon night when the tranquility of the fort is adorned by the celestial light.

This place is beautiful. Entry at December 17 cost 15 a person and 25 for the camera. Take the camera; this place is beautiful! Everything is wonderfully restored. Also, take 4 to 5 hours to walk around. Get there at 8, since that's the time the place opens. Get a bottle of water and a hat. There is no littering. People are very very kind and helpful.
-
one of the best historical place to visit. you can enjoy best sea side and beaches. Despite the large number of tourists visiting daily, the site has been well-maintained. There is a lot to walk, so do not forget to carry your necessary refreshments. There is a section of the fort that extends into the sea. This is the place to be. You experience the shear force of the waves striking against the rocks and the aftermath spraying everywhere like mist. best time to visit from early evening to sun set. one of the cleanest beach i have visited
