Take a relaxing walk along the well-maintained fort walls and through the lush green gardens--which have served as the filming location of numerous Indian movies, music videos, and commercials. One of the symbols that makes Kasaragod lovable to the whole world. Whether you are interested in history, architecture or landscape, you have sufficient reason to visit Bakel Fort. The rocking waves waving the high rocks are an exceptional scenic beauty from the fort atop. There is a story among old folks that the name BAKEL was coined when a member of Ikkeri Naiks, the ruling family visited the newly chosen site for the fort and asked 'jageke onthu hesaru bekkalla? ' (this place needs a name, right? )... Oudu, bekkalla bekkalla... Yes, needed, needed.
Beautiful Fort in which you can explore the works of shivappa Naiks kingdom. This fort was conquered by Tippu sulthan. You can experince the sea shore experience as well as the fort Experience.
