Historic Site Military Facility
Admire Kerala's largest fortress, Bekal Fort. Built in the 17th century and situated near Kasarogod, the stronghold overlooks the Arabian Sea. Take a relaxing walk along the well-maintained fort walls and through the lush green gardens--which have served as the filming location of numerous Indian movies, music videos, and commercials. Gaze upon the vast sea from one of the imposing observation towers, or descend below the stone walls to the small, picturesque beach and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. • As forts go, this is a pretty ordinary one with very very little to see or do. Forget the forts of Rajasthan, this is not a patch even on Maharashtra's forts All it really has is a view which is good ...  more »
  • Beautiful place with ample opportunities and locations for taking photographs. We need at least 3 hours to cover the complete area and the trip should be planned in that way.  more »
  • It was a rainy day... visited the fort and was a different experiance... the construction of the fort is excellent. .  more »

  • Fantastic. Nice place to spend an evening with your beloved ones. So romantic. Nice place to sit and talk/walk and talk. The scenery from the fort is really amazing; that's why many films were shot here.
  • An amazing open fort, which overlooks the magnificent Arabian sea on one side. This fort should be visited in the early morning ( when it opens) or better still in the Evening just an hour or 2 before sunset. Be sure to face the sea , to witness a lovely sunset, just outside one of the walls. Take hats and caps or an Umbrella for suncover. And yes water too. The BEST season to see the entire fort is just after the rains say in the month of August, when the grass is a lush green with the contrasting grey clouds. A rainy visit is also fine. A warning: Don't try to swim here ,the sea is pretty rough and intimidating. All in all a very picturesque fort...WORTH A VISIT.
  • Pretty awesome fort.A nice place to hangout with friends or family. The fort gives an immaculate view of the beach which has very strong waves which is a fun experience. Parking facility is also available. Some people might get confused looking at the park as the security guy keeps saying beach and park since there is a park at the beginning of the beach
  • For fort lovers.. best to visit during late mansoon.. big n tidy. Less eateries inside.well Maintained parking lot and wash rooms. Best beach view.
  • The fort is really nice. Make sure you don't go during the noon/afternoon cause it is blazing hot. An amazing view of the beach can be seen from here. Buttermilk on top of the fort is awesome. Around an hour and a half from Mangalore.
