  • A salute to all the brave soldiers who laid down their lives just for us so that we can stay safe. This memorial really brings tears to our eyes and makes us feel proud of our country and our brave Army which guards its frontiers. This place is testimony to the sacrifice.
  • Main attraction of the memorial is the sandstone wall, in the open, which has name of all the indian army personnel, and even from there we can see some peaks that indian army captured back from pakistan during Kargil war, Jai Hind
  • The place shows how our great heroes fight in the Kargil and won. The Kargil War Memorial, also known as the Drass war memorial or the Vijaypath, is a popular war memorial that has been erected by the Indian Army. Located between Dras and Kargil region in Jammu & Kashmir, the memorial has been built in the memory of the martyrs of the 1999 Kargil war that was fought between India and Pakistan. The memorial is located in the foothills of Tololing Hill and is located at a distance of about 5 km from the famous Tiger Hill. Both these peaks along with some others were captured back by the brave Indian soldiers from Pakistan during the Kargil war. This popular site is frequented by a lot of travelers who travel on the Srinagar Kargil highway that connects Srinagar and Leh. The epic memorial situated in the lap of the splendid hills and peaks of Dras region has a wall dedicated to the soldiers who laid their lives for the nation during the 1999 war. The sandstone wall has the inscriptions of the martyrs’ names on it. The Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated at this site every year on the 26th of July.
  • A Must Visit to pay Tribute to the Martyrs. Please ensure to keep some time separate for this place. Just a casual visit is not enough. There is an arrangement of complete guidance for the visitors to know the facts and figures of the different wars with our neighbour country. We feel safer there only because of sacrifices of the brave army men. An appeal: This is a memorial and not a Tourist spot. Please ensure to maintain the sanctity of the place.
  • Kargil/ Drass War Memorial, otherwise also known as Bimbat War Memorial. The Memorial was setup in memory of the brave soldiers who set out to serve the nation’s cause and never returned from the Indo-Pak wars. The Memorial is a poignant reminder of high-scale devastation and loss of life caused by wars. The Pakistan covert operation of infiltrating Indian Border was code named ‘Operation Badr’ under the Command of General Pervez Musharraf whose target was to cut link between Kashmir and Ladakh regions of Jammu and Kashmir State and force India to withdraw from Siachen Glacier thereby forcing India to negotiate territorial rights on Kashmir. Operation Vijay’ was launched by the Indian Army under the command of Army Chief Ved Prakash Malik to combat ‘Operation Badr’ to clear the infiltrators in the Kargil region along the Line of Control. 26th July each year the Victory of ‘Operation Vijay’ is celebrated at the Drass War Memorial. On 26th July 1999, a 60-day War between India and Pakistan had ended and India took back command of the high posts that Pakistani insurgents had occupied. The Kargil War claimed the lives of 527 Indian soldiers. These Jawans belonged to 33 different units which comprised the Army's 8th Mountain Division.
