Thiruvalluvar Statue, Kanyakumari

4.1
Thiruvalluvar Statue depicts the Tamil poet and philosopher Tiruvalluvar, the famous author of Thirukkural, a classic Tamil sangam literary work featuring over 1,000 couplets. The 40.6 m (133 ft) tall stone statue sits upon a pedestal, with the total weight of the structure reaching 7,000 tons. Take notice of the slight bend in the figure's waist, reminiscent of the dancing poses of Indian deities. This attraction sits alone on a small island rock just off the Kanyakumari coastline, accessible by ferry. Quickly create a custom-made itinerary for Kanyakumari using our trip planner.

  • Thiruvalluvar-famous Indian poet and philosopher. The exact dates of his birth and death are not known, it is believed that he lived approximately 2000 years ago. In India, he is revered as the author of the famous Kurala-a set of rules and aphorisms written as distiches. They are addressed to all peoples, regardless of what religion they profess, their origins, who are in the profession. Interestingly, many of his sayings included in Leo Tolstoy book for teaching children. I was struck by the dictum 575, which reads: "a society in which there are no people, whose hearts are eager to serve the people, will be defeated, as it is quite with the roots of a tree". • Wow, it's really great experience to me and my family. More 100 feet high statue makes really happy and Cool mind. Unfortunately now entry to that palce closed but with the help of political help or higher official recommendation you can visit here
  • Amazing architecture. The winds are pretty strong here. Be careful if visiting with kids.
  • One of the cleanest tourist spots in southern India ,this statue is 133feet tall. There is no way for this, you need watch this from Vivekananda Beach Memorial
  • This is an absolute wonder. Standing at 40+ metres its amazing to see how these structures were constructed on a rock bounded by seas on all sides.
  • The place is almost next to the Vivekananda rock. Mere 2- 3 mins in ferry while on the short return journey. The black stone structure while being imposing but has very little historical value unless u are a fan of Thiruvallavur. Must visit if you are interested in photography as this is the nearest you can get to click the bigger vivekananda rock.early morning or late afternoon is the time to be there.
