Thiruvalluvar Statue depicts the Tamil poet and philosopher Tiruvalluvar, the famous author of Thirukkural, a classic Tamil sangam literary work featuring over 1,000 couplets. The 40.6 m (133 ft) tall stone statue sits upon a pedestal, with the total weight of the structure reaching 7,000 tons. Take notice of the slight bend in the figure's waist, reminiscent of the dancing poses of Indian deities. This attraction sits alone on a small island rock just off the Kanyakumari coastline, accessible by ferry. • Besides the great history of Thiruvalluvar and his 133 feet statue, just visit this place for the boat ride experience. Just wow! Riding against the wave on the journey towards the statue is awesome. The boat often jumps over the waves and that experience itself is so thrilling and memorable. A must visit place in Kanyakumari.
