Thirparappu Falls, Kanyakumari
Categories: Waterfalls, Nature & Parks
Watch the swelling river thunder over Thirparappu Falls, descending 50 ft (15 m) to the pools below. With a river bed of solid rock, the falls stretch 300 ft (91 m) across; low waters give you the chance to see rocky pools. Take the opportunity to bathe and cool off in the pools below the falls, though prepare for a busy atmosphere (earlier hours tend to have fewer crowds). Note that the site has nothing in the way of food or changing facilities; plan accordingly. An excellent weekend getaway place! There is a Mahadeva temple very nearby. Ticket is just Rs. 5 per person. Parking fees (Rs. 40) was collected and the parking areas were full. Had to park the vehicle along roadside.! Parking was a bit of an issue! The approach road was crowded and was buzy. Overall it was an awesome experience.
"Good place to visit during summer" The water fall at this place is about 13 kilometres from Pechiparai Dam. The river bed is rocky . The water falls from a height of nearly 50 feet and the water flows for about seven months per year. The whole bed above the falls is one rocky mass which extends upstream where the Thirparappu weir has been constructed for supplying water to the paddy fields On either side of the river, on the left bank of the river in between the waterfalls and the weir, there is a temple dedicated to Shiva enclosed by strong fortification. The District Administration has recently constructed a swimming pool which is very popular among the children.

Called as the kumari kuttalam, a great place for nature lover and good place to enjoy with family as an alternative to water park. The water falls is best and is divided for the convinience of the people. The upper part of the waterfalls have a great view of water and rock. There is also a boating service available in the upper area.
Good falls near Kanyakumari. Seperate bath area for men and women, but no change room available for women. Also a children play area available. Worth visiting while touring Kanyakumari.
