  • this is one of the best place in Nagercoil and provided excellent thrill while waling over the bridge.
  • There is a long bridge connecting two valleys and you walk on the bridge. Nothing more, but walk is amidst green hills, so nature lovers will enjoy it.
  • Do not miss this place if you are around this area. The view is absolutely amazing and if you are a photograph enthusiast then its a must visit to this place. You will not be disappointed.

  • A nice long walk on the bridge. The view of the tall green coconut trees and other trees, and the river that flows beneath are pleasant to watch from the bridge. A park for kids and swimming place is also present. Entry fee per person is just 3 rs.. Buy pineapples from the entrance and walk down the bridge, its worthy..
  • Measuring a kilometre in length and 115 feet in height, Mathur Aqueduct or Mathoor Hanging Trough is among the longest and tallest trough bridges in Asia. This imposing structure was constructed in 1966 over the Parazhiyar River (also called Pahrali) in Mathoor - a small hamlet in Aruvikkarai. It was due to the efforts of the former Chief Minister Thiru K. Kamaraj that this bridge was constructed for agricultural development and as a drought relief measure. This concrete structure is supported by 28 huge pillars and carries water for irrigation from Pattanamkal Canal (from one side of the hill to another). Mathur Aqueduct is divided into two parts, a trough canal and a road. Partly covered with concrete slabs on top, the trough structure is 7.5 feet in width and 7 feet in height. Owing to its popularity among tourist and locals alike, a flight of stairs was built here to make it convenient for visitors to reach the bridge. A children's park and several bathing platforms have also been developed in this region.
  • Charming place....its up high, historical and still standing proudly. I asked the local people about it,they said it was used to transport water and other thing from one mountain to another mountain{Higher ground connection}. Its one of the biggest bridge and i guess only one of its kind. You can see the water canal and a walk path too(adjacent to each other). Its high,(around 1000 ft) be careful as u walk through the bridge. There are local delicacy available once u come down the bridge, try the Jackfruit chips, they are tasty. There is a parking too. You have to buy the ticket (2 rs.) For the view of aqueduct. The view from the top is just mesmerizing. Good to go... 👍
