Bhagavathy Amman Temple, Kanyakumari
(4.2/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
You can’t take any photographs at Bhagavathy Amman Temple, but you will surely remember everything you see. Built right at the edge of the water, where the three seas--the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal, and the Arabian Sea--meet, the temple and the area are considered sacred. Marvel at a natural phenomenon; at the point where the bodies of water meet, you can distinguish between three colors of water, none of which mix with each other. See the statue of the Goddess Bhagavathy Amman, whose nose rings reflect the light of the surrounding oil lamps and used to act as a makeshift lighthouse for sailors. Pay attention to the temple's modest dress code. Using our international travel planner, Kanyakumari attractions like Bhagavathy Amman Temple can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • kanyakumari is place dedicated to peace, worship of god since the place takes its name from the goddess Devi Kanya Kumari, considered to be a sister of Krishna. It is the southernmost tip of peninsular India.  Main attraction for the tourist is sunset as well rise. Apart from it there is other historical monuments which increases its beauty some of them are vivekanand rock Memorial, Gandhi memorial mandapan, Bhagvati Amman temple and Tsunami memorial park. MY EXPERIENCE It was quite pleasant and honor to visit this place which holds various historical aspects. We can reach there easily by train which available from Trivendrum with 2 hours journey. Hotels, rooms are not very expensive, yes all what we need is to get up early in morning not to just see sunrise but also attend morning Artii. Around 8 am we can became free to visit other temples which are actually in ocean with help of boat provided by Government.
  • Small and beautiful temple at the Tri sea sangamam. As Kanyakumari is a tourist place people visiting the temple as one of the tourist spot. But you can feel the power of the Goddess through Her Mookuthi. Very Great. Om Sakthi
  • It is very good place for sun rising and neat beach, we have lot of fun hear. This bagavathi amman temple is near the sea. Big temple.
  • Small n good temple!!! Maintenance is just ok!! Mostly crowded!! Don't go fa spl dharshans!!! There's shopping market outside with variety of things!!!
  • Very small, nice, simple temple. Like this place very much. For hassle free darshan.... If u r new visitor, temp staff will ask for Rs. 20 per head at entrance for direct darshan. I recommend not to pay anything. Just take a 150 meter walk round temple in right direction u will find main entrance. ( I seen many are getting cheated even though absolutely no crowd inside / outside temple). From entrance to sanctum sanctorum (30 meter )Can take 10 rs archana coupon issued by temple for good darshan in front of idol while priest doing archana for u. It will not take more than 15 minute for entire darshan. Shoes, slipper keeping facility out side temple is free. But he will be happy only if pay at least rs 5 ;)
