Sam Sand Dunes, Kanoi
(4/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Experience the wonders of the Thar Desert and all its mysteries at Sam Sand Dunes, an increasingly popular tourist attraction just at the edge of Desert National Park. Rent a jeep with a professional guide to explore the dunes, or do it old-school by going on a camel safari. Sink your feet into the warm sand and observe the wildlife that survives in this beautiful yet harsh environment. Tea shops and restaurants can be found around the dunes, but if you want an authentic desert experience, go on a camping trip and gaze at the star-spangled sky in an area largely free of light pollution. Add Sam Sand Dunes and other attractions to your Kanoi trip itinerary using our Kanoi family vacation planner.

  • Go and spend night at desert. Stay in any tent resorts. Do camel safari and jeep rides. Sam is 45 kms away from jaisalmer city area. Nice road connectivity.
  • Really enjoyed the sunset camel ride. Sitting high up we rocked back and forth over the sand dunes. After sunset we enjoyed Rajasthani dancing and a veg buffet dinner at Rojani Resort all for 1200 rup...  more »

  • Playing here in the sand was the best part of my Rajasthan tour. The only thing bad is the irritating and pestering camel (camel ride) owners... 😓😂 they don't let you go that easily. The sunset view was awesome. During winter, the temperature is very low, be sure to carry enough warm clothes.
  • If somebody ever goes to Jaisalmer, he should not forget to visit Sam Sand Dunes. I had gone with my family during the month of October, 2015. We enjoyed a lot there. That was the most beautiful and awesome experience I have ever come across in my life. The sun setting view there is awesome.
  • A beautiful place and a complete sand area. Camping is a must here. Night and morning views are amazing. Camel ride ad Jeep ride are icing on the cake.
  • Don't take the camel ride. Its just a small round that they give you. You ultimately will love walking instead of taking a camel. Take water bottles and you will not like the tea they make (roadside ones). Visit around 4.30 or 5 so that you can walk, relax and see the sunset. Of you take camel rides, they charge you for one return journey in which they drop you and leave, and then come back ones the sunset is over. They charge more for staying with you the whole time. I think it's not worth it. I enjoyed walking instead. Best time to visit is December. Thats the time i went. Not so cold not so hot.
  • It is exciting experience riding on camel to see Sam Sand Dunes Desert in Jaisalmer. One must enjay this desert safari and the sun set from the Desert. Nice photographic place.
