  • The Parassinikadavu Snake Park is one of the major attractions of Kannur District itself. The Snake Park, which is a subsidiary unit of the Pappinisseri VishachikitsaSociety, is the only one of its kind in the State and perhaps the whole of India. The park is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of snakes, most of which are becoming extinct gradually. There is a large collection of poisonous and non-poisonous snakes. There are three snake pits, fifteen glass cases for snakes and two large glass houses for King Cobras in the park. Other than the snakes, there are other kinds of rare animals, reptiles and birds like the endangered species of Simhavalan Monkeys and Crocodiles. Location: Parassinikadavu, 20 kms north of Kannur. Nearest Railway Station: Pappinissery Nearest major Railway Station: Kannur Nearest Bus Station: Parassinikadavu Nearest major Bus Stations: Taliparamba, Kannur Nearest Airports: Mangalore(100 kms), Kozhikode (140 kms).
  • Small collection but a nice plaCe with a variety of snakes including the King Cobra. At the entrance there is small collection of fish, followed by turtles, alligators, monkeys, birds. Wondering why it was named snake park. Toilets are well maintained.
  • The place has few other animals (crocodile, wild cat, jackal, monkeys, varieties of fishes, peacock etc) than snakes. The area is small and cannot accommodate much people. But there is class regarding the snakes which was worth listening. Also the snacks and tea shops are run but the park authorities itself. Worth visiting if travelling by kids and time available is less.
  • Marine life is a new attraction. Mostly reptiles to see. Porcupine, peacock and few other birds and animals fills the place. An ice cream shop in the centre will complete your journey.
