Tholpetty wildlife sanctuary is closed while we try to visit the place with my family on 10 October 2016 due to some issues.
We went on the tour of the sanctuary by jeep for about 1 hour or so. We did not spot much wildlife except for some deer and bison. Slim chance of spotting elephants and very doubtful if anyone can see... read more »

That plan had 4 full coaches with school children also unfortunately. Through much discussion still have a place in a jeep. Until then so still fine, but we thought a kind of ' safari ' 2 hours to get it to search for wild animals. Turned out 1 hour in the jeep which 15 minutes by road. Not really deep in the forests or so. In addition to what deer also hardly seen wild animals. Very different than they sell in travel guides among other things. It's not a waste of your money but more of your time because you still have trouble for have to do to get there. Conclusion: disappointing.show original

WWS is 344sq km sanctuary , it has 178 water holes for animals . WWS falls under Nilgiri biosphere reserve comprising 3 sanctuaries in Karnataka (Nagarhole and bandipur Tiger reserve ) and Tamil Nadu (Muthumalai national park ) . WWS is the only place with availability of water and food in large scale in the Nilgiri biosphere . During the summer period thousands of wild animals from the adjacent sanctuaries migrate enmasse to WWS in search of water .
Its better to visit a zoo instead of this. We had a 2 hours of jumpy journey with my DSLR and lens kits in a safari. All we found was Deers, A peacock and monkeys. It was a real waste of time. Don't plan to this place unless you haven't seen any Deers till now.
One of the best wildlife park with great sightings..

Tirunelli will remain to be one of my favourite destinations...
Serene. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city. 5 hours from Bangalore makes it an ideal weekend getaway.
