4.3/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web
Trek through thick forest to reach Thirunelli Temple, an ancient, isolated site sitting at 900 m (3,000 ft) above sea level. The route to the temple winds through a wildlife sanctuary with plenty of opportunities to spot the local residents. Small streams, ponds, waterfalls, and an old stone aqueduct pulling in water from a nearby spring contribute to the harmonious nature of the temple's surroundings. The pilgrimage site, dedicated to Lord Maha Vishnu, is believed to be more than 1,000 years old, with remains of ancient villages uncovered in the nearby forests.
