Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, Jodhpur

4.2
#1 of 12 in Parks in Jodhpur
Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park represents part of an attempt to restore the city's ecology and plants native to rocky environments. Volcanic rock surrounds the area where a thorny weed shrub, baavlia, once wreaked environmental havoc; after years of efforts by the Khandwaliya miners, the weed-free park now opens its doors to all visitors. See the collection of native plants adapted to arid areas of the Thar Desert, and visit the nursery to learn about techniques used to grow plant life in such difficult terrains. Careful not to walk off the designated paths, so as to protect the fragile vegetation here. • This is a must visit of you like walking or taking a stroll with your family. My kids loved it as they got the map( the booklet that you get when you buy your tickets) and were leading the way for us....  more »
  • So natural it is and amazing to see various rocks at one place and you can't imagine that a rock park would be there. However, one would keep in mind that there is so long trail to walk so not recomme...  more »

  • good place.. you get a thrilling experience as u follow the map.. and different coloured trails on it.. you also get view of fort meherangarh as a whole from here.. they also have a guided tour in morning at 7 or so.. it is called beat the heat initiative.. carry water bottle.. wear shoes and a cap would do..
  • It's a great park for a trek! Not very famous but if you love a calm and serene place this is where you need to head to! You will get beautiful views of Mehrangarh fort from this place! Additionally there is a bird watching zone but you need some extra time and a guide for that.
  • Encompassing a lot of Endemic Flora and Fauna, Rao Jodha Dessert Rock Park is transforming into one of the most visited attractions of the town. The best time to visit is a cloudy day when the direct sun doesn't heats up the Rock Park. Do come with proper trekking or sports shoes and carry your water bottles. During rains the place is filled with a lot of little waterfalls and streams. Its a really beautiful site during these times!
  • Rao Jodha Desert Park is basically a botanical garden where you will find different types of plants, trees as well as stones of different era. The best time to visit this place is either early morning or the evening time. As Rajasthan is hot region, noon time is not good to visit this place. It will take around an hour to visit/ to roam in this park.
  • The trail we visited was a bit confusing and needs more markings. Other than that pretty good. I suppose the setting would be better in the monsoons.

Truly luxurious options sit in secluded spots overlooking the city proper, offering extensive facilities, such as pools, spas, and fine-dining restaurants.
