Perched atop a rocky promontory and overlooking the surrounding plains, Mehrangarh Fort and its towering walls rank among the most iconic landmarks in the country. Built in the 1450s by the rulers of the Marwar Kingdom, the fortress bears cannonball scars from the battles it saw in the following centuries. On your way up to the castle, you can marvel at the fortifications that rise 125 m (410 ft) above the city, sticking straight up from the hill's rock face. Explore the museum within to learn more about the fort's history and see an extensive collection of rare arms, armor, artwork, and other artifacts from the region. From the top of the battlements, lined with antique cannons, you'll get a sweeping view over the city and the landscape below. As it is not specified on the website, you must pay 600 as a foreigner with an audio guide but you need to provide either an ID or 2000 rupees/ 40 💷💶💴💵 to be able to have it. We did not have any of those but still paid the same price. Our second issue was that half of the rooms were closed, no entry or without light (turban room) so again paid full price but for half of the experience. The guys at the entrance felt powerful and asked us to go back to our hotel (what can we possibly do stealing an audio guide?!?!?) to pick up money knowing we came to the fort under 45degrees walking. The only thing that improved our experience is the local people visiting the place and the view of the blue city.
The museum in the Mehrangarh fort is one of the most well-stocked museums in Rajasthan. In one section of the fort museum there is a selection of old royal palanquins, including the elaborate domed gilt Mahadol palanquin which was won in a battle from the Governor of Gujarat in 1730. The museum exhibits the heritage of the Rathores in arms, costumes, paintings and decorated period rooms.

Its a good historic place to visit and see. High walls, old customs and traditional stuff is kept in museums. But dont expect much as most of the areas and places are restricted and locked. If u r a student , carry yr id card to get a ticket for only 40 bucks. Normal charhes are - Rs. 70
I visited twice. Nice fort area. Book auto from station itself. You can see full city from top floor. Please visit Umaid Bhavan palace.
