Mandir Palace, Jaisalmer

3.5
Mandir Palace (Temple Palace) is an exquisitely carved architectural marvel of ornate balconies, canopies and delicately carved screens that represent a high point of local craftsmanship in its finest and purest form. The imposing beauty of the Palace is over two centuries old when the temples of Lord Rama and Lord Girdhariji (another name of Lord Krishna) were built and subsequently the Palace complex around the temples.

One of the most beautiful portions of the Palace was built during the reign of Maharawal Jawahir Singhji in the beginning of the twentieth century. A noticeable feature of Mandir Palace is its tower also referred to as the ‘Badal Vilas’, which stands out as the tallest structure below the hill-top city fort.

  • An architectural wonder in the heart of the city. We have not understood why this sumptuous place was almost empty of tourists. From the terrace where we were three dining, we admire the fortress and the whole is magical. The staff met at dinner and breakfast is very friendly and attentive. Recommend!

  • A superb Palace of Maharaja, nice garden, Museum interesting. Not friendly at all... too bad. We had the impression of disturbing the staff...! Comfortable rooms but shabby bathrooms equipment: plastic for the trash bucket! Air conditioning very noisy surrounding systems. Pigeons everywhere... where pool not usable as too dirty... Too bad!
