Mandir Palace, Jaisalmer

3.6
#9 of 18 in Historic Sites in Jaisalmer
Mandir Palace (Temple Palace) is an exquisitely carved architectural marvel of ornate balconies, canopies and delicately carved screens that represent a high point of local craftsmanship in its finest and purest form. The imposing beauty of the Palace is over two centuries old when the temples of Lord Rama and Lord Girdhariji (another name of Lord Krishna) were built and subsequently the Palace complex around the temples.

One of the most beautiful portions of the Palace was built during the reign of Maharawal Jawahir Singhji in the beginning of the twentieth century. A noticeable feature of Mandir Palace is its tower also referred to as the ‘Badal Vilas’, which stands out as the tallest structure below the hill-top city fort.

A place to dream, very personalized. We were accommodated in the Palace, next to the Museum and the personal affairs of the Maharajah, in a suite with several parts. It was just amazing and very exotic. The rooftop restaurant with a view of the Citadel, lit at night.

The hotel is located in the Centre of Jaisalmer, which is very convenient for its proximity to the Fort, equally charming and gorgeous. Even now it's half the home of a Maharajah, obviously without any power, he decided to open a hotel in his home. The rooms are luxurious and very spacious. The bathrooms are clean and cosy with new structures, despite the years organised building. Also there is a beautiful swimming pool with outdoor Cave some deckchairs, which you can place cave shade under a fan. The last thing the restaurant with a magnificent view of the Fort and the city. Concluding fair prices and good.

Beautiful hotel in an old haveli still existing residence of Maharaja ... extremely comfortable with friendly and very helpful. Guests can also visit the Museum in which it is a collection of objects and furniture owned by the family of Maharaja. Personally we could meet in the pool the young Maharaja and his wife, current owners of the hotel. A personal thanks to Mr. Bhojraj Singh who made our stay extra special. Italian family with teenagers.

Beautiful property which is turned into a hotel and the residence of current royal family in one part. Beautiful architecture gives you a sense of history and a beautiful view of the fort very well located walking distance from city center and the fort. Very friendly staff and helpful. Happy to show you around and make you meet the royal family. Property has two museums with old artefacts. Worth a place to spend a couple of days while in Jaisalmer.
