Maharaja's Palace, Jaisalmer
(3.5/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
Head to Maharaja's Palace to see part of one of the world's largest foritifications and a World Heritage Site. Built in 1156 CE, it stands tall in the center of city, rising out of the sands of the Thar Desert. The palace's yellow sandstone facade turns from tawny to golden as the sun sets. Measuring 460 m (1,500 ft) long, 230 m (750 ft) wide, and 76 m (250 ft) high, it also features a daunting defensive wall. Tour the inside of the massive building to see period furniture, clothing, weapons, and more. Maharaja's Palace is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Jaisalmer Edition.

  • Jaisalmer was one of the last cities visited on our tour and didn't disappoint. This palace is also well kept and preserved. The palace is absolutely stunning, each room really does take some time to ...  more »
  • Amazing artwork and history, don't miss it. Our guide who only cost 200 rupees took us everywhere and explained things clearly - well worth it.
  • I visited other palaces in Rajasthan and I can say that, from what I saw in this Museum and considering the price (500 INR for foreigner), it's not worth the visit. In general poorly preserved, interesting little collection, glasses that insulate the rooms main generate a reflection that undermines the internal preview. I paid a usage fee of INR 100 camera and on the terrace was forced by a guy paying another just because I decided to make an overview with the cell phone. I thought arbitrary, do you observe the same procedure being applied to local tourists. Anyway, I left with a bad impression of the place that, in my opinion deserves more attention.
