Bada Bagh, Jaisalmer

3.6
Soak up the contrasting atmospheres conjured by the regality and starkness of Bada Bagh, a former garden and set of royal cenotaphs. Once lush and green as a result of a dam, today the sandstone structures rise from reddish sand, rather than verdant grass and other plant life. Started in 1743, the site hasn't been added to since Indian independence. The interesting historical garden gives the impression that the desert is trying to reclaim its sandstone, or the whole site is seemingly growing out from the ground. • It's got beautiful views, especially during sunset. But the entry fee is way too high for this kind of monument, plus there is an extra charge for using the camera. As of 2018, it's 100 per head. If it wasn't for sunset scenery, the ruins by themselves aren't worth visiting. You can safely skip this place if you don't think ₹100 is too expensive just to watch sunset.
  • This is nice and peaceful place. But the price is but too high (100 for entry and 100 for camera). The place is not very well maintained and doesn't have many facilities. It's more like a photography point and a place to just chill for a while. Historically, this is a graveyard of the kings and you can see that here. Although it's quite astonishing to look at the scale at which all these canopies are built. The sunset view from this place is epic and with the wind farms in the backdrop, it become a serene view. If you're near Jaisalmer and are free around evening, you can visit this place for the feel it gives during sunset. Not a very highly recommend place by any chance though.
  • The place is nice with historical importance. We took a guide and he told the importance of all chhatris and places. It may be a good decision to either read the history yourself before visiting or take a guide to learn about everything. Plus this place is awesome for photography.
  • Decent place to chill out as couple. But entry fee is bit higher. View are awesome. One of great option to have best photoshoot of your life.
  • Very close to the jaisalmer city and its a nice ans photogenic place for pictures. It all the graves of Jaisalmer royal family. The entry to this place is easy to miss as it looks like a entry of a military area. The guide are quite smart ans for a very short tour they will charge you high. We only paid Rs 100 for a 15 minutes tour.
