Jal Mahal, Jaipur

(2,400+ reviews on the web)
Architectural Building
Admire Jaipur’s majestic “floating palace,” Jal Mahal, situated in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. The red sandstone palace supposedly dates back to the 18th century, but has been renovated and restored numerous times. On a lakeside stroll, you’ll find that the palace appears to be floating on the water's surface, but in reality only the top floor of the imposing building is visible, while the rest are submerged underwater. While entry into the palace is prohibited, you can take a boat ride on the lake to inspect it closely, or enjoy the view from the land. Using our world travel planner, Jaipur attractions like Jal Mahal can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Awesome architecture. Really amazed by its Architecture. Worth a visit if are in Jaipur. looks great at night.
  • Now that is converted to a 5 start hotel its even better, but even if one cast stay there it makes fantastic photograph
  • You need to come here in the day time only for the best views are around sunset. They have lots of handy crafts to buy in the area as well as elephants walking around.
  • Must reach before sunrise else you will end up squinting into the bright light and your pics will look like crap. Make this a quick stop before heading to Amer fort. The palace is too far from the road (which is filthy and really disappointing).
  • Beautiful yes, but you cannot go in the palace so the trip to the lake is a bit worthless..
