Jal Mahal, Jaipur
(2.9/5 based on 1,900+ reviews on the web)
Admire Jaipur’s majestic “floating palace,” Jal Mahal, situated in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. The red sandstone palace supposedly dates back to the 18th century, but has been renovated and restored numerous times. On a lakeside stroll, you’ll find that the palace appears to be floating on the water's surface, but in reality only the top floor of the imposing building is visible, while the rest are submerged underwater. While entry into the palace is prohibited, you can take a boat ride on the lake to inspect it closely, or enjoy the view from the land. Using our world travel planner, Jaipur attractions like Jal Mahal can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • It is a wonderful building in the middle of a lake that is less because it is the receptacle of the sewers of the city! you will see on the banks stink and littered dead animals! but still worth stopping for a few pictures by going to the fort of Amber.
