Diwan-e-Khas Hall of Private Audience, Jaipur
Categories: Monuments, Architectural Buildings, Tourist Spots
See Diwan-e-Khas Hall of Private Audience, a place where the ancient Mughal emperors received courtiers and state guests in the Red Fort. Observe the architecture of the interior which consists of a rectangular central chamber, encircled by an array of arches rising from marble piers. The ceiling was originally inlaid with silver and gold, but was stripped bare when financial crises occurred in the empire. The throne of Mughals emperors once stood here. Read the inscribed verse of Amir Khusrow--‘If there be a paradise on earth, it is this, it is this, it is this.’ It was restored after it was plundered in the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
