Where to stay in Jaipur

With a big selection of budget and mid-range hotels, Jaipur serves as an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area. Many taxi and rickshaw drivers aggressively push their choice of hotels on unwitting tourists--if you refuse their suggestions, they might double the fare. To avoid this inconvenience, book your room ahead and call the hotel to arrange for a pickup--many offer shuttle services to and from the train and bus station.

  • First challenge is crossing the road to get here followed by finding the entrance which is not through the front but around to the left. When I reached the ticket box a guy approached me to tell me that today the museum is free. Immediately my suspicion radar goes off as nothing in India is ever 'free'. Turns out it was for whatever reason though the entry fee isn't much anyway. Audio guides are available but I I didn't bother. To be honest I found it largely quite dull. The building itself is more interesting than the contents which is mostly pottery, plates, vases, tapestries, drawings and sculptures. The only parts that I found interesting were some old weapons and musical instruments. There's a small Egyptian section near the end. The police/guards who spend most of their time half asleep suddenly spring to life and get very stroppy if you don't follow the proper pathway through. All up I spent 40 minutes here, I wouldn't bother unless you've run out of things to do.
  • Find lots of epic things which are the symbols of Indian art and work . Coins collection is too good . Cloth and other hand work of past era is too attractive. Old and epic things are there to give much info about past era. Mummy house is too good to watch , old tricks to keep dead body safe is nice.
  • It's just superb place. Rajasthan, as a whole, especially Jaipur is wonderful place! The state gives so much importance to tourism, and it was a wonderful experience for me. The Albert Hall museum is lit at night, which itself is very beautiful from outside.
  • Nice museum with decent facts about most pieces. I was happy to pay the 100 rupees entry for the night time visit (19:00-22:00) Best part may have been the building itself though.
  • Very nice place to visit. Early morning time is suitable as you ll see lots of pigeons around there. Click photos with them.
