Rajwada Indore, Indore
(3.6/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
Admire Rajwada Indore, an 18th-century palace in the heart of Indore. Maratha empire royals constructed the grandiose structure, which bears resemblance to Neo-Mughal and Indo-Gothic architecture. Note the division between upper wooden and lower stone parts, both adorned with elaborately carved windows and enclosed balconies. Enter the building through the front and roam the scenic courtyard fringed with colonnaded galleries, where in 1984 a fire destroyed the rear of the building. Rajwada Indore is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Indore Edition.

  • The palace is completely rundown and is a pale shadow of other palaces in India. The temple next-door is a great one. A important site to visit however as it shows how Ahiylabai Holkar focussed on the...  more »

  • Most renowned place of Indore there is also famous palace of Devi Ahilya and in rajwada famous for its market there you will get everythin of household thing, accessories, clothes at reasonable price and including all things which a person needs in daily life .
  • This seven storied building is a confluence of Maratha and Mughal architecture. Built during the time of Her Highness Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar, the palace stands as memoir of the glorious past of the region. A museum maintained within the palace has a decent collection of artefacts.
  • “Historical place, museum and eateries” Indore is a city of holkars and this was their royal adobe. Now converted to a museum opens almost daily for 10-11 hrs. best time to visit in the day for museum and eateries at night as it is close to sarafa famous for its night haat for foodies. in day and evening, you may find lots of kachoris, jalebis, poha, shikanji etc. to quench your hunge pangs..lot crowded though and not enough space to park..
  • Very nice place and Ahilaya Bai ki nagari
  • Old central place for gathering in Indore. Will maintained, but not in its original form as it went thru a major repair work in between. Good for shopping economical stuff from near by market.
