Saroornagar Lake is a lake in Hyderabad, India. From the year of its creation in 1626, the lake remained largely clean until 1956 when Hyderabad expanded. Inevitably, untreated domestic sewage, solid waste and industrial effluents entered into the catchment area of this lake.In 2003, the Minister of Tourism for Andhra Pradesh announced that the lake and its surroundings would be developed at a cost of. As a part of this initiative, two sewage treatment plants with the capacity to treat 250 million litres of sewage a day were to be installed. In addition to this, tourism-centric facilities such as a boating facility in the lake, a children's park and a restaurant were to be taken up. The minister also announced that all construction activity on the lake bed were to be stopped. Soon after, city's civic agency Hyderabad Urban Development Authority took up the task of cleaning up the lake.

  • The Saroornagar Lake is located in the eastern part of Hyderabad city and is often called a mini Tank Bund. The Lake has a nice garden on one side of it, where one can walk, but that's about all once ...  more »
  • This is I guess the only place in saroornagar to take evening walks or if you want to hangout with your family. Sometimes bad smell comes.  more »

  • Also known as Mini tank bund.... It is a decent place with ice cream parlour... Pani puri... Corn... And likes! Overtime the lake has been used as dumpyard..... High time for the lake to be cleaned....
  • The lake was good but now in these days , a bad stink is being raised from it , I request TRS Government to take necessary measures inorder to keep it in a good state. Encroachments are also being made which the government should look and make necessary actions to make it historic for the upcoming generation
