Sanjeeviah Park, Hyderabad
(2.3/5 based on 35+ reviews on the web)
Sanjeevaiah Park is a public greenspace and park in the heart of Hyderabad, India. Built on 92acre along the banks of Hussain Sagar lake, the park is named after Damodaram Sanjivayya, an erstwhile Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The park is managed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority. The park won the Best Open Landscape Award during the 2010 Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage award presentations.DevelopmentThe Buddha Purnima Project Authority, an agency responsible for the beautification and the upkeep of the areas surrounding the Hussain Sagar lake under Hyderabad Urban Development Authority, planned for several new recreational facilities for public access in 2004. A 2.4km aerial tramway connecting this park to Lumbini Park, which is located on the other side of the Hussain Sagar lake, was planned. Water sports, amusement park and water slides were also the planned activities at the park. A few years later, this proposal by BPPA to convert the park into a recreational area was deemed to be harmful to the park's ecosystem. A study conducted by the regional wildlife advisory board highlighted the need to protect the several species of flora and fauna in the park.In 2010, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority came up with a new proposal for the park's development. While retaining all the environmental aspects of the park, the agency proposed a plan without construction of any concrete structures. Besides water sports, so as to utilise the huge waterfront, the proposal mooted night illumination, water and energy conservation measures. From their allotted budget of for the lake development, a part of it was to be utilised if this proposal were to be agreed upon by the local government.

  • The Sanjeeviah park named after the erstwhile Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, is a 92 acres of public greenspace in the heart of Hyderabad. My issue with the authorities is the heavy concentration of many gardens all located around the Tank Bund-Lumbini park,NTR gardens & this one instead of dispersing them in various parts of the congested city.As a matter of fact we finished all the closely located major attractions-Hussainsagar lake,Buddha Statue,Tank Bund,NTR Gardens,Prasad`s IMAX movies,Lumbini park & this Sanjeeviah Park in one day starting from the early morning to late evening! Stretching along the shore of Hussainsagar lake it has a fragrance, rose, palm & aquatic species gardens. It is unique among all gardens in having the `Pavitra Vanam`ie a garden of only sacred & holy plants from different parts of the country & also of Mexican & African varieties ! It can be considered among the best to have a wide diversity of 25000 to 30000/ of plants of about 200 species of them. It has nearly 100 types of birds & about 50 types of Butterflies, insects & notably many migratory birds during winter like Purple Herons,Cranes, spot bills, common cool, cormorants & jacanas. It also has a separate tracks for walks/jogging.It also organises many cultural & public events in its premises.
  • Sanjeevaiah park is the best park in the city especially if you're a nature lover and looking for some quite peaceful time this is a place to be, it has lot of different trees and amazing flower garden, awesome lake view & the best thing it's located in the heart of the city.
  • Park is located next to hussain sagar lake, give a good look of the lake from inside, also gives access to the yatch club. I feel that entry should be free for the jogger's or walkers until certain time.
  • The best thing about this place is it is surrounded by the hussain sagar which adds to the beauty of this place. But this park is not as good as the lumbini and ntr park nearby. Its ideal for morning and evening walk. It also has water dance event which is the only highlight of this place.
  • This place is beautiful and well maintained . You can spend a day in this parks with your family or friends . Rose garden , butterfly garden and cactus parks are the main attractions here . And recently india's largest national flag been hosted here.
