Peddamma Temple, Hyderabad
Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Colorful Peddamma Temple with playful appearance attracts crowds of worshipers and tourists during religious celebrations when the whole site turns into a sort of an amusement park. The name of the temple translates to “mother of mothers,” which is the supreme village deity Laxmi, often depicted sited on a lion. The current structure dates from 1993, but the original temple was reportedly built in the second half of the 19th century in the place where a local shepherd found a sculpture of the goddess. Legend has it that the temple was built on the site of the well from which the goddess drank after she killed a bloodthirsty demon. The biggest annual festivity is Bonalu festival in June dedicated to Mahakali--Hindu goddess of time and death. It was a wonder to be here and we were filled with excitement. The whole temple looked fresh and there was peace everywhere. As soon as you enter there was a place where people make the coins stand. I wonder what it was but it was exciting. I was able to make one coin stand. Then the temple. It was beautiful and simply awesome. People make no noise and are queued up in regular lines which leads to the main mandir where the statue of the deity is situated. That is a air conditioned room. The whole experience was amazing and as Indian is a country of temple not much can be written. Temples are places to visit and just observe and find peace. I would say it was beautiful and wonderful and one should surely visit if he or she happens to be in Hyderabad.

JAI PEDDAMMA THALLI - CHALLANI THALLI - Very Beatifull and Peacefull Temple, everybody should visit at least once and get MAA DURGA Blessings but as in every temple the Pujari's/Priests and Committe members do over action and disturb devotees concentration and peaceful atmosphere of the temples, they just enjoy in the service of their friends, relatives and VIPs and behave rudely with common devotees - this is the main problem in most of the Hindu Temples and even the staunch Hindu some times dejected in the Religion with this type of behaviour of the Priests and committe members, the priests became more money minded , if put money in the plate more care other wise pushes the devotees - at least they realise their mistakes and let the devotess have peacefull satisfied DARSHAN of GODDESES and GODS and bring good name to the religion as the old proverb says "Devudu Varamichina Poojari ivvadu" (The God/Goddes gives Boon but Pujari/prieists obstruct in getting the Boon) JAI MAA
