Golkonda Fort, Hyderabad

4.3
Nestled on top of a granite hill, Golkonda Fort, the place that once held the famous Koh-i-noor diamond, overlooks the city of Hyderabad. The historic structure served as the capital of the Qutb Shahi dynasty in the 16th and 17th centuries, before being abandoned. Explore the massive stone ruins, enjoy the panoramic view of the city, or try out the fort’s famed acoustics; a clap from anywhere on the premises can be heard on the highest point of the fortress. • The view from the fort is very nice. I would suggest to visit the fort post 4.30 pm as there is lot of stair climbing to do. Wear good shoes while going to the fort as there are few slippery stairs. T...  more »

  • Great place to visit with your family and children, it is suggested to carry water-bottles and food, only one small canteen inside the fort. However water-bottles are available inside the park. Affordable ticket price and extra money for camera, parking lot is available. Bus facilities from various places is also available. Finally a very good place to spend with friends and family. Visit the place and have fun.
  • The overall experience was great but we need to walk up the hill which is a bit tiring and during your walk, you will find many places and views up the hill which will avoid continues walking. Once you finish climbing up the hill you will have the 360 degree view of the entire city which is nice. The best part of Golconda fort is the light show which starts at 6:30PM with a duration of one hour. The show will explain about the history of Golconda fort using sound and lights. The actual closing time if you don't attend the light show is 5:30PM.
  • Very old fort. Fully crowded on weekend. Small events will be held sometimes. Evening lighting is awesome to see. Roads very small to bring big vehicles. U need to have much energy to cover entire fort. Minimum time need to spend is 2 hrs to see. Be careful at some places, stones may get slippery. Best place to have pics here
  • It's a very good place to spend a day. Go in less crowded days. Hire a guide to understand the palace more. There is a light and sound show in the evenings. Better avoid it because it's very costly and not worthy enough. Some cleanings are to be done on the premises of fort, but it's a great experience to know the history.
  • One of the best and must visit places in Hyderabad. A nature heritage site and we can roam around the fort for two to three hours .it is best place for kids and also for group.you need to be energetic to climb up to top point(not recommend for old age pepol). Better to carry water and food though there is one canteen available at top of the hill. Also highly recommended to go by cab or other public transport on weekends as the Parking place is very limited
