Golkonda Fort, Hyderabad

4.3
Nestled on top of a granite hill, Golkonda Fort, the place that once held the famous Koh-i-noor diamond, overlooks the city of Hyderabad. The historic structure served as the capital of the Qutb Shahi dynasty in the 16th and 17th centuries, before being abandoned. Explore the massive stone ruins, enjoy the panoramic view of the city, or try out the fort’s famed acoustics; a clap from anywhere on the premises can be heard on the highest point of the fortress. • Excellent experience.loved the sight structurally and historically. This fort was built by Nizam's of Hyderabad during their time. Suggest you read little about this place before visiting.  more »

  • Golconda fort is a very big spacious military and residential area of the erstwhile kings - both Hindu and Muslims. It's architecture is unique in the sense cool breeze is captured in all the places including caves and stables for horses. It has its own water supply and is located on high shepherd' s hill. It is strategically located and had many security layers including a water canal covering it from all sides as a first line of defence. However, aesthetic and artistic sense -. wise it has no comparison with the Agra Fort or the Red Fort of Delhi. The latter two forts are much too superior to the Golconda Fort.
  • Nice place to hang around. But better if you visit in evenings, as the weather is cool around that time. Best time to visit is during monsoon. Nice view from the top. If one visit with their group of friends it will be great fun. Few portions of fort are poorly maintained, stinks a lot. Food items shouldn't be allowed inside, as people tend to throw leftover food or packets here n there.
  • Great fort but nothing much too see there. At the top you can find temple there and almost all parts get ruined due to natural phenomena. Overall good place for hangout with friends and can go for photography. Entry ticket is nominal but it lies far from main city. And no bus facility to the fort so you have to book taxi or auto. The most best part of this fort is you can have the view of whole Hyderabad. Perfect view from top. Must bring water bottles as you will be exhausted.
  • Golconda fort has an unique architecture. Good place to visit with friends and family and spend time there... But old people may find difficult to climb to top... Stairs are there but it feels very tiring to climb.. Good views for photography.. Reaching Top point feels so good... There we can see to very far of the near by places... Carrying food is allowed there so we can take food there... Must take water bottles there, other wise one had to purchase it on the top... Better if u go at morning time....for better pictures...
