Nestled on top of a granite hill, Golkonda Fort, the place that once held the famous Koh-i-noor diamond, overlooks the city of Hyderabad. The historic structure served as the capital of the Qutb Shahi dynasty in the 16th and 17th centuries, before being abandoned. Explore the massive stone ruins, enjoy the panoramic view of the city, or try out the fort’s famed acoustics; a clap from anywhere on the premises can be heard on the highest point of the fortress. A visit to Golkonda Fort represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Hyderabad tour planner to plot your vacation.

  • Great place for history buffs, adventure seekers and photo fanatics. I suggest to hire a guide to know the beauty and history of construction or it will just be a rock tour. Acoustics at the entrance are amazing. Ask your guide for a demo. Carry some food. You'll not find anything other than soft drinks, chips and ice cream at doubled prices. Great experience overall. Must visit place if you're in Hyderabad.
  • The fort is made up of stones located on the cliff, Entrance is amazing a good & neat welcoming garden. You will miss a nice Panasonic view of the city and some structures at the top. You will also enjoy breathtaking landscape and architecture of the fort, one last point do not miss ling and sound shows in the evening.
  • Anyone visiting Hyderabad first time must visit here ( provide you have at least some interest in historical places and monuments). There is back and forth accessibility from city to fort through cabs. Minimum 2-3 hours of time is required to properly see every part of the fort. If you are already tired and lost a lot of energy I won't recommend visiting this place after that, better start fresh. During rains stones may be slippery so watch out. Shoes with good grip is advisable always in any season.
  • A walk through this archaeological treasure of India is definitely going to make your day. An advice for the people going during the summers, its pretty hot and there's a lot of ground to cover so come prepared for that. You can get guides who will explain the beautiful history of the place but be careful while choosing your guide and be ready to bargain as they will start with a ridiculous price in the beginning. Also a little maintenance of the place might be nice. Happy History Hunting!
  • One of the symbols of the glorious Hyderabad especially the Nizams. Jaw dropping views from the top of the fort. It is always hurting to see people not caring about preserving the heritage. Government need to start something to avoid people scribbling on the walls which are very tough to restore. But great experience and must see place to understand the Hyderabad.
