  • Lovely place, very peaceful and calm by the river front. This church, built in 1860s was abandoned in 1960s, when a reservoir for dam water was created. While its fully accessible during dry weather, it gets half submerged during rains. This church is one of the few tourist spots in Hassan area. Would recommend visiting (being present there) during sunrise or sunset time, to appreciate the scenic beauty, as well as take the opportunity to take lovely pictures.
  • Beautiful setting in a rural hinterland of Karnataka. The church itself is ruined to its bones and all that is left are crumbling bricks . There is hardly anything to see in it. However, the sylvan surroundings, the nearby green fields, the clear water in the reservoir, all lends a hallowed feeling to this place. It was surprising to find crowds of people, so far from the cities.
  • I've been here twice before. The 1st time i was here was during sun set and it was too damn good. The second time was the best though, i came here on a full moon night. We started from blore around 5pm and reached the church at 9, chilled there till 12:30am inside the church and near water. The place was quite and there was no other soul in sight. I would suggest this place for the offbeat traveller in you.
  • The church is ruined but the sight is beautiful. The lake opposite to it compliments it. It makes a spectacular location for photographs. Other than that there's nothing much to see. The place isn't so popular but still there were few men from nearby areas just chilling over there. If you go there in summer you're dead, because there are no shelters particularly. Also, Google maps doesn't guide to the exact location. A detour has to be taken. You can visit here once and take few photographs and come back.
  • The Church was built in 1860 by the French missionaries for the wealthy British estate owners. In 1960 the construction of the Hemavati Dam and Reservoir led to the abandonment of the church. Since then the church submerges in water every year during monsoon season. It attracts a lot of tourists who visit the ruins to see this spectacular sight. Peaceful place to hangout with friends.
